Larga canción para Yordanka

Alexander Besú Guevarra’s Long Song for Yordanka brings together love poems with the music of a bolero, the cadence of a sonnet and the intimacy of a whispered confession. These words don’t strike a pose. They burn. Each poem offers itself freely, celebrates Eros and shelters us from loneliness, bringing classical technique to a contemporary beat.

Sensuous images of skin, mist, music and sea mingle with cultural references that enrich the poems without drawing attention away from them. Together, they form a “long song” in which falling in love lights up everyday life, making the world more vivid. Some poems are brief; others unfold at greater length. What they share is a sincerity you can feel: these poems aren’t manufactured, but lived.

If you love love poetry, savour the music of verse or want a book that can keep you company, offer comfort and kindle a spark, this collection is for you. And if you’re drawn to poetry that reads like an intimate story yet keeps its mystery, make this your next read.
