I Choose Us reads like an intimate diary, alive with a young voice learning to breathe through the recurring cycle of desire, loss and rebuilding. Vanessa Olivera Montero writes at the edge of emotion. Her clear, direct lines move through claustrophobia, nostalgia and a quiet eroticism that leaves its mark without raising its voice.

Love here is no picture postcard. It's flesh, memory, contradiction. Promises burn, farewells linger, and silences weigh more than a conversation. One question keeps returning: how do you choose yourself and still love? Poem by poem, Olivera Montero gives vulnerability a heartbeat and wounds a language, making room for what remains unsaid and what is finally named.

For readers of contemporary poetry who want emotional intensity, honesty and beauty without artifice. If you've ever been caught between ‘we’ and ‘I’, you may see yourself in these poems.
