Born in Niquero in 1976, Yudith Izaguirre Rodríguez is a Cuban poet, fiction writer and researcher. Her work returns to questions of female identity, memory and Cuban culture. She holds a degree in Spanish and literature, a master's degree in educational sciences and a diploma in Cuban cultural studies. She draws on this academic background in her creative and critical writing, taking an active part in contemporary literary life.
She made her debut in Cuban poetry with Alicia’s Monologue (Ediciones Bayamo, 2000). In Letters from Childhood (Ediciones Orto, 2007), she returned to childhood, exploring its emotional and symbolic dimensions. Her poetic voice came into its own in The Women I Am (Tu Letra Online, 2020), which centres on the many ways of being a woman.
In The Case for the Defence (Tu Letra Online, 2021), Izaguirre writes in a spirit of resistance. She turns to cultural research in Isotopy of Decline: A Critical Study of the Tiempo Theatre Company’s Work (Tu Letra Online, 2021), showing her range as an essayist. She develops her fiction further in the short story The Blue Circle of Life (Tu Letra Online, 2022). In the novel The Map of Exiles: Lilith’s Legacy (Tu Letra Online, 2025), she weaves together myth, exile and memory on a broader symbolic scale.
